| Thomas J. Townsend is executive vice president and chief risk officer (CRO) for Sun National Bank.
Mr. Townsend leads Sun National Bank's risk management infrastructure with a goal of identifying and managing operational and enterprise risks of the bank. Risk management comprises credit policy and administration, legal, loss prevention/security, regulatory compliance, internal audit, loan review, and community reinvestment. Mr. Townsend has more than 30 years of progressive leadership and solutions-oriented management experience. For several years, Mr. Townsend also had functional responsibility for information technology and bank operations at Sun National Bank. Prior to joining the bank in 2001, Mr. Townsend served as chief financial officer for Smith Barney Corporate Trust Company in Wilmington, DE. Before that, during his tenure at CoreStates Financial Corporation, he held various roles including corporate strategic planning, asset management, finance, investment banking, and internal audit. Mr. Townsend earned an executive M.B.A. from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a bachelor's degree in accounting from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
